Establishment of District Education Authorities (DEAs) under PLGA, 2013

Vision Statement:-

Students’ assessment and examination.
Ranking of schools on terminal examination results and targets.
Promotion of co-curricular activities, sports, scouting, Girl Guide, Red Crescent.
Constitute school management councils to monitor academic activities.
Approval/re-appropriation of the budget and execution of development schemes.
Plan and finance maintenance of school, support enrolment and retention.

Functions of DEAs (Section 93):-

1. Establish, manage and supervise:

Primary, Elementary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools.
Adult literacy and Non-formal basic education.
Special Education institutions of the Government in the District.

2. Implement policies and directions of the Government including achievement of KPIs set by the Government for education.

3. Ensure:

Teaching, infrastructure, student safety and hygiene standards.
Minimum education standards for quality education as may be prescribed.

4. Undertake:

Students’ assessment and examinations.
Ranking of schools on terminal examination results and targets.
Promotion of co-curricular activities, sports, scouting, Girl Guide, Red Crescent.

5. Constitute school management councils to monitor academic activities.

6. Approval/re-appropriation of the budget and execution of development schemes.

7. Plan and finance maintenance of school, support enrolment and retention.
